LESOTHO HOLDS WATER MULTI STAKEHOLDERS DIALOGUE

Maseru, Sept.29– The Kingdom of Lesotho is holding the 11th Southern African Development Community (SADC) two-day multi-Stakeholders water dialogue which resumed in Maseru on Monday.

In his opening remarks, the Minister of Natural Resources Mr. Mohlomi Moleko said this Dialogue builds directly on the outcomes of the 44th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, which calls for innovation to unlock opportunities for sustained economic growth and development.

He stated that it also aligns with key regional and continental frameworks that guide collective vision which include the SADC Vision 2050, the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (2020–2030), and the SADC Regional Industrialisation Strategy and Roadmap (2015–2063), as well as the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

He noted that water is indispensable to every link in the regional value chain from agriculture and energy to trade and industrial processing. Without water, there can be no inclusive growth, no food and energy security, and no sustainable industrial transformation therefore application of adaptive and inclusive Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus approaches is key., making water not just a sectoral concern, but a catalyst for economic development…
