LESOTHO REPRESENTED AT UN SESSION

Maseru, April 12 — Lesotho was represented at the 58th Session of the Commission on Population and Development (CPD58) held at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York this week.

The meeting, themed ‘Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages’, saw Lesotho being represented by  Permanent Representative to the UN, Mr. Matete ‘Nena.

The Representative highlighted the importance of the session which resonated and focused on promoting healthy lives and the well-being of all ages, thus aiming to achieve universal health coverage, and preventable death of newborns, infants and children under five.   

He further re-affirmed the commitment of the Mountain Kingdom through its government to implement the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) agenda in enhancing amongst others access to healthcare, promoting education, and addressing other social determinants. AM/TL
