LESOTHO SIGNS COMESA-SADC TRIPARTITE FREE TRADE AGREEMENT

Maseru, Oct.27 — Lesotho through the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Small business development and Tourism has officially signed the Commerce Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA)-SADC Tripartite Free Trade Agreement (TFTA) in an event held in Maseru on Friday.

Speaking at this event, the Minister of Trade, Industry, Small business development and Tourism Mr. Mokhethi Shelile said that this signing is marking a significant stride toward greater economic cooperation and trade integration in the southern and eastern African regions.

Minister of Trade, Mr. Shelile said this agreement comes in as a significant milestone for Lesotho because it opens up new opportunities for their businesses and will help diversify its economy.

He added that the agreement also aims at reducing other issues affecting trade matters such as trade barriers, enhancing regional value chains and to promote the development of infrastructure while fostering economic growth and job creation…
