LHDA TRAINS DDMT ON EPP

Qacha’s Nek, Feb. 11 — The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) has trained the District Disaster Management Team (DDMT) on an Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPP) to mitigate potential dam-related disasters.

The training, held on Tuesday, aimed at equipping local disaster responders with essential knowledge and strategies to protect lives and property in the event of dam emergencies or severe flooding downstream.

LHDA defines an EPP as a set of procedures designed to prevent loss of life and property damage when emergencies occur around a dam or during intense flooding downstream.

Speaking at the workshop, Mohale Dam Safety Supervisor, Mr. Sentle Mojela, emphasized the need to cultivate a culture of disaster preparedness. . .
