FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS HIT EX-PRISONERS

Maseru, Nov. 21 — Although sports activities are running smoothly in some correctional institutions since they commenced, the Crime Prevention, Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Ex- Offenders Association (CRROA) is faced with a challenge of financial constraints to support the initiative.

According to CCROA Executive Director Mr. Nkalimeng Mothobi, the association is unable to hold the sports activities countrywide as it does not have money for transport, adding that inmates do not have sports attire and wear their own clothes.

He indicated that they approached different organisations and people for donations, expressing hope that they will support the activities as they are intended to identify talents of inmates and groom them so that they could showcase them when released from prison to ensure that they never re-engage in criminal activities.
