LIKUENA COACH EXPRESSES VIEWS ON AFCON FINALS

Maseru, Jan 25 – Lesotho’s senior soccer squad Likuena Coach Mr. Leslie Notsi has expressed his views on the on-going 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Ivory Coast following the completion of the group stages last night.

Mr. Notsi said the fact that Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) region has three representatives in the knock-out stages speaks volumes in as far as the standard of football is going in the region.

‘We have Angola, Namibia and neighbouring South Africa which are through to the AFCON Group stages in these augurs well for the development of football in our region’ he commented.

The Likuena mentor said AFCON has been dominated by the north and west African teams for some time while central and southern African have been struggling to reach this stage of the tournament.

He said in the knock-out stages Angola has been pitted against neighbours Namibia in what he dubbed COSAFA derby, saying what will make this encounter intriguing is the fact that some players from Namibia are plying their soccer trade in Angola. . .
