LIKUENA, ESWATINI FACE-OFF IN PRACTICE MATCH

Maseru, March 15 — The Lesotho Senior National Team, Likuena will face Eswatini’s Sihlangu in a practice match on Thursday at 15:00 as the two countries fine tune their preparations for the upcoming TotalEnergies 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The practice match will be played at Bambatha Tsíta Sports Arena since Setsoto Stadium is still not available after being banned for hosting international matches for not meeting the required standards.

Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) Media Officer, Mr. Mikia Kalati told the Agency that the only foreign based player who will be available is Tsoarelo Bereng who joined the rest of the players in training on Monday this week while Motebang Sera is set to arrive today (Wednesday).

‘’The match will be played at LeFA’s Technical Centre at Bambatha Ts’ita Sports Arena and with Likuena having had to play its matches in South Africa due to the unavailability of Setsoto Stadium,  LeFA leadership invites Basotho to come and watch the match for free as this could be their last chance to watch Likuena on home soil until Setsoto Stadium has been upgraded,” he highlighted.

He explained that Sera’s DSTV Premier League side, Royal AM was in action on Tuesday night against Mamelodi Sundowns, saying even though Sera did not play, he was part of the day’s squad hence his late arrival.

Mr. Kalati said Sera has been nursing a minor injury which saw him being side-lined for three weeks that resulted in him loosing  his position in the first team by the time he was finding his goal scoring touch.

Furthermore, he  said  Likuena are preparing for their back-to-back matches against Zambia to be played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium and Dobsonville Stadium on March 23rd and 26th respectively.

Eswatini on the other hand will play Cape Verde on the 24th and 28th respectively.

Likuena is in group H alongside Comoros, Ivory Coast and Zambia.

The road to Ivory Coast started last year in which Likuena opened the TotalEnergies 2023 AFCON qualifiers with a 0-2 loss to Comoros before holding off Ivory Coast to a goalless draw at Dobsonville Stadium in South Africa.
