Berea, May 07 — The Leloko Serobanyane Winter Challenge is set to return for its third edition this winter, continuing its mission of uniting communities through sport, entertainment, and youth engagement in Mapoteng.
The tournament, founded by businessman Mr Leloko Serobanyane, was established to promote unity, talent development, healthy lifestyles, and community pride while appreciating people who support local sports initiatives.
This year’s tournament will feature men’s and ladies’ soccer competitions, with teams from Mapoteng and neighboring communities invited to participate. The event will also include entertainment activities such as talent shows, quizzes, and tag war competitions.
Speaking about the tournament, Mr Serobanyane said the initiative was created to encourage youth participation in positive activities while strengthening unity within the community.
“This tournament is about unity, youth empowerment, and appreciating the people who continue to support community development through sport,” he said.
Mr Serobanyane emphasized that community support remains important to the success of the tournament, noting that the event promotes social cohesion, identifies local talent, and creates a safe and entertaining environment during the winter season.
Although the tournament currently has no official sponsors, he said engagements with stakeholders and supporters are ongoing, while also appreciating individuals and businesses contributing towards the success of the event.
Tournament activities are expected to take place on Saturday to allow maximum participation from teams, supporters, and community members.
Prizes will be awarded for activities such as quizzes, tag war competitions, and talent shows, while participating teams will also receive prizes at the end of the tournament.
