Maseru, Jan 26 — The newly elected Executive Committee of Lesotho National Federation of Organisations of the Disabled (LNFOD) is entrusted to continue advancing the Federation’s mission of promoting the rights, participation , and empowerment of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).
This was said by LNFOD Executive Director Mr. Rabasotho Moeletsi in an interview with the Agency, saying the executive committee was elected over the weekend during the conference, which brought together delegates who represented eight Disabled People’s Organisations under LNFOD with the objective to report back, state achievements , challenges , elect new committee and map the way forward.
He said this team of 16 people represents a strong commitment to inclusive leadership, advocacy, and empowerment for PWDs, saying the committee will amongst others, work cooperatively with the Federation to ensure it attains its objectives, account and provide financial reports to donors and find new ones.
He indicated that the committee is made up of the Chairperson being Mrs Site Khomoea Majoe Kinela, two Vice Chairpersons, Secretary General (SG) and Vice SG, Treasurer, Publicity Secretary and his Vice.
He said it also has four members representing the groups of Gender, Youth, Underrepresented Communities and Women, adding that there are other four advisory members.
In another issue, Mr. Rabasotho declined to comment on reports trending on social media regarding some members of a disability organiganisation who are alleged to be investigated on acts of corruption by the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences.
However he clarified that LNFOD has a clear mandate in fighting corruption through its anti corruption policies, emphasising the Federation’s support in action taken against those who engage in corruption.
Also interviewed was Mrs. Khomo ea Majoe Kinela who pledged to lead by example and strive to ensure LNFOD attains its mission.
She added that she will takeover from where the outgoing committee ended, adopt responsibilities, identify weaknesses and turn them into opportunities through teamwork.
LINFORD’s Executive Committee is elected after every four years and the above-mentioned committee will lead until 2030.
