LSMTA BEREA TO HOST DISTRICT SCIENCE FAIR IN TEYA-TEYANENG
Berea, May 06 — The Lesotho Science and Mathematics Teachers Association (LSMATA) Berea, will host a district mathematics and science fair at St. Agnes High School in Teyateyaneng from May 8 to 9.
The Mathematics and science fair will bring together primary and post-primary school learners to compete in quizzes, problem-solving activities, and scientific project presentations.
During an interview with the Agency, LSMTA Berea chairperson Mr. Mahapu Manya stated that the association expects participation from approximately 37 post-primary schools and 17 primary schools.
However, he noted that so far, 21 post-primary schools and 12 primary schools have registered for the competition.
Mr. Manya further explained that the top three performing schools will qualify to represent Berea at the national science fair.
He added that outstanding participants in the national competition will also be given opportunities to advance to international platforms, including a science fair to be hosted in Botswana later this year, as well as participation in the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists, which connects learners with young scientists from different countries.
The science fair is expected to strengthen collaboration between teachers and learners in practical science, technology, and mathematics education while encouraging schools to adopt more hands-on approaches to teaching and learning in the district.
