Maseru, May.06 — The celebration of 30 years of existence in Lesotho by Vodacom Lesotho reflects not only progress in connectivity and economic development, but also life-changing opportunities aligned with global development priorities such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Speaking during a press conference held in Maseru on Wednesday, the Chief Executive Officer of Vodacom Lesotho, Mohale Ralebitso, said the company’s 30-year journey represents more than growth in mobile telecommunications, but a deliberate contribution to national and global development efforts.
Mr. Ralebitso noted that Vodacom Lesotho’s expansion over the years has significantly contributed to SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by investing in modern telecommunications infrastructure that connects even the most remote parts of the country.
He said such connectivity forms the backbone of economic growth, enabling businesses, government services and individuals to participate in the digital economy.
Mr. Ralebitso further highlighted the company’s role in advancing SDG 4 on Quality Education, noting that improved network coverage has enhanced access to digital learning platforms, particularly for learners in rural areas.
He said this has become increasingly important in bridging the digital divide and ensuring equal learning opportunities for Basotho.
In addition, he pointed to Vodacom Lesotho’s contribution to SDG 3 on Good Health and Well-being through digital health solutions and improved communication systems that support health service delivery.
Moreover, he indicated that connectivity enables timely access to health information and services, especially in hard-to-reach communities…
