MAFSN ON AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH POLICY DEVELOPMENT 

Qacha’sNek, April 15 — In an effort to foster input of relevant stakeholders in establishment of the national research system, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition (MAFSN) through the Department of Agricultural Research (DAR) held a one-day consultative meeting through the World Bank funded project called Agricultural Productivity Programme for Southern Africa (APPSA).

APPSA Lesotho is said to be aimed at contributing to the long term, sustainable research collaboration and exchanges between SADC member states while maintaining international collaborations with renowned research institutions and Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (GGIARs).

Mr. Selebalo Ramakhanna, MAFSN Chief Research Officer under Agric Research Department said its been over 72 years without a guideline tool in a form of policy to research which will be followed by science agenda.

“We hope to have the research policy so as to challenge the status quo,” he said.
