MAHAO MURDER TRIAL MOVES TO NEXT YEAR 

Maseru, Nov. 11 — A case in which some members of the Lesotho Defence Force including Retired Army Commander Lieutenant General Tlali Kamoli are charged with the murder of their colleague Maaparankoe Mahao has been scheduled to proceed on June 16 2025. 

The prosecution has in this matter already led 32 witnesses and the last witness to testify is Major Tau Tau. He among others testified that in 2017 he was attached to Ordnance, a sub-unit within the logistics unit in which Colonel Phaila was a director.  

The witness pointed out that in 2014 there was a request for pistols and rifles made to the Ordnance. He indicated that the weapons were issued to Military Intelligence adding that he issued some of them. 

The case has recently made headlines when the Mahao Family filed an application in which they sought re-instatement of Advocate Shaun Abrahams who was a lead prosecutor in the matter but withdrew his services after he was not paid by the Government of Lesotho.
