Maseru, May 23—A second prosecution witness in an ongoing treason trial Mr. Moshoeshoe Sehloho has on Thursday testified that in 2014, upon his return from a trip in Ethiopia, the late Brigadier Maaparankoe Mahao told him that he got a suspension letter.
He stated that Mahao further told him that the letter was written by Deputy Army Commander Motsomotso who was at that time acting in the office of the Commander. He indicated that when he told the then Prime Minister Dr. Motsoahae Thabane about the suspension, he told him that he was not aware of it.
The witness said the Prime Minister called Motsomotso to the State House to give an explanation about the suspension of Mahao. He pointed out that a suspension is an administrative issue therefore had to be reported to the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Defence or the Prime Minister who was the Minister of Defence.
