MANTSONYANE BEAMS TO LIFE

Maseru, March 16 — Mantsonyane which is a small rural town and a birthplace for the incumbent Prime Minister, Mr. Ntsokoane Sam Matekane suddenly came to life on Saturday during the People’s Cup tournament.

Otherwise a quiet place with only a handful of vehicles and a few people going about the place on Saturday all roads were leading to Mantsonyane with a huge traffic of cars, minibus, bakkies and buses full of soccer fans singing and weaving their favourite teams jerseys and scarfs aboard.

The Bocheletsane place which was the venue for this year’s edition of the People’s Cup was full of noise as the participating teams painted the place with different colours of blue, white, green, black and yellow from Matlama, Linare, LMPS and Bantu famous colours.

This is the place where Prime Minister turned 65 years and above that this year Lesotho is commemorating 200 years of the Basotho nation formation by the Moshoeshoe I at the Thaba Bosiu fortress.

Some of the Basotho took full advantage of the event to try thier fortunes by sell their goodies to make a few Maloti for their families during these trying times.

For those Basotho who failed to attend the event, they managed to follow the proceedings live on state owned Lesotho Television and on Radio Lesotho.

The final of the People’s Cup will be contested by Matlama and LMPS, after the police team defeated defending champions Bantu 1-0 in the second semi-final of the doubleheader.
