Maseru, Oct. 02 — Maseru District has on Thursday embarked on a cleaning campaign in preparation of independence celebration to be held in Thaba-Bosiu on Saturday.
Speaking in an interview with the Agency, Maseru District Administrator (DA) Mr. Tsépo Lethobane said they found it befitting to unite with the community of Maseru to clean areas leading to Thaba-Bosiu to mark the 59th independence which will also see the launch of the diamond jubilee logo.
“Lesotho will mark 60 years of independence in 2026 hence the launch of the logo on Saturday” he added, saying the cleaning campaign took place at Ha Fako, Phuthiatsana and Lehlakaneng amongst others.

He also reminded that Maseru, Thaba-Tseka and Mafeteng will join the celebration in Thaba-Bosiu where King Letsie III will lead tree planting accompanied by the Prime Minister (PM) Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane.
Meanwhile Maseru district embarks on a cleaning campaign every second Friday of the month as a response to PM’s call to keep Lesotho clean under Operation Hloekisa Lesotho campaign which was launched by the PM in April, 2023.
Lesotho gained independence on October 04, 1966.
