Mohale’s Hoek, June 14 — The Millennium Challenge Account’s delegation has on Friday paid a courtesy call to the District Administrator’s office, following consultations with communities in Phamong.
This was confirmed by MCA’s Communications Officer Ms. ‘Matselane Mosoaboli in an interview with the Agency, by stating that consultations were aimed at gauging the interest of communities to participate in schemes, and their preferred model of engagement with anchor investors, while engaging with land owners to provide MCA with the progress made in the compact programme, especially the Market Driven Irrigated Horticulture (MDIH).
Ms. Mosoaboli concluded by stating that the MDIH project supported under the Lesotho Health and Horticulture which was signed by the Government of Lesotho and the United States in 2022, has been given the green light to enter into full force (EIF) for a period of 5 years from March, 2024 to March 2029.
Meanwhile, DA’s Senior Information Officer, Mr. Lits’oeneng Tiheli, applauded MCA’s efforts in ensuring that communities are developed, and pleaded with Basotho to take care of developments brought to them, and safeguard their sustainability long after investors have left.
