MOVE TO CONSERVE RANGES

Qacha’s Nek, Oct.03 — In an effort to conserve pastures, the District Administrator (DA) Mr.Mantsi Ts’eane has from today embarked on holding educational public gatherings at community level.

The initiative started in Ha Ts’episo following escalating incidents of rangelands burning in the district that left five villagers stranded as their houses were said to have been affected by the fire.

Mr. Ts’eane expressed concern and regret at the way people are burning without being held accountable by those involved such as chiefs and police.

Community members revealed that some people burn because they are evil and want to disappoint livestock owners due to their conflicts as the society, others burn because they want green grass as they believe that green grass is grown by burning while others burn to make it easy for them to steal animals.
