MPs WORKSHOP TO STRENGTHEN OVERSIGHT ON DEVELOPMENT GOALS RESUMES

Maseru, Nov. 11 — The three-day capacity-building workshop for Members of the National Assembly, which was postponed on Monday due to poor participation, resumed in Maseru on Tuesday.

The aim of the workshop is to strengthen the capacity of MP’s to fulfil their oversight legislative and representative roles in advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Gender Based Violence and preventing HIV in Lesotho.

Officially opening the session, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Tlohang Sekhamane, said Members of Parliament are not only lawmakers but also shapers of the nation’s future, whose decisions determine how Lesotho advances towards inclusive and sustainable growth.

He noted that the workshop provides an opportunity for MPs to exchange ideas and explore innovative solutions to challenges such as maternal mortality and child marriage, which remain major barriers to achieving Lesotho’s development aspirations…
