NATIONAL ADAPTATION PLAN AIMS TO REDUCE VULNERABILITY-MOKOENA

Maseru, Nov.05 — The Director Lesotho Meteorological Services (LMS), Mr. France Mokoena says the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project aims to reduce Lesotho’s vulnerability to the impacts of climate change.

This he said days leading to the launch of the NAP project which will be held in Maseru next week.

He remarked that Lesotho is highly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, with extreme weather events frequently resulting in damage to property and infrastructure, disease outbreaks and loss of lives. He thus stated that the project will help build adaptive capacity and resilience as well as facilitate the integration of climate change adaptation in a coherent manner into relevant new and existing policies, programmes and activities.
