NO NEED TO PANIC – FINANCE

Maseru, Dec. 13 — News of a Cyber Security incident at the Central Bank of Lesotho (CBL) has led to concerns among public servants who fear potential delays in their salaries.

In an interview, Mrs. Keneuoe Mojaki, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) from the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, clarified that as of now, there’s no information suggesting the cyber security incident will impact salary payments. She assured that any developments on the matter would be promptly communicated.

The Central Bank of Lesotho issued a statement confirming a cyber breach in their system that occurred on Monday. The CBL assured that despite the breach, there has been no financial loss. However, as a precaution, certain systems have been temporarily suspended to prevent further intrusion.

Acknowledging the ongoing efforts to restore the system, the bank cautioned that there might be delays in some payments while they work towards full system recovery.

Meanwhile, various banks have also released statements, warning customers about potential disruptions in daily transactions until the issue is resolved.
