OVC BURSARY APPLICATIONS SURGE IN QACHA’S NEK

Qacha’s Nek, Feb. 14 — The number of applications for the 2025 Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC) school bursary in Qacha’s Nek has significantly increased, with 716 applicants compared to 484 in 2024.

Of these, 710 were approved, while six were queried due to missing documents.

According to the District Manager of the Department of Social Development, Mrs. ’Mabokang Mapena, the rise in applications is largely attributed to increased awareness efforts.

“We see a huge difference and I believe this is due to increased sensitization. During public gatherings, we realized that many people were unaware of this bursary,” she said.
