SOU DIVING TEAM SEARCHES FOR A DROWNED INFANT

Mohale’s Hoek, Feb. 14 — Special Operations Unit ( SOU) officers have embarked on a campaign to search for the body of a 9 months old infant, who drowned along with a 14 year-old sister at Maphutseng about a week ago.

This has been confirmed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police  ‘Mats’epo Sooko in an interview with the Agency, by noting that the 14 year-old girl is reported to have been carrying her sibling when crossing the river about a week ago and were swept away, but the body of the girl has since been recovered.

Meanwhile, ACP Soko further asserted that police officers from the Crime Prevention Department have been convening gatherings at various primary schools instilling human trafficking instincts, as well as creating awareness regarding any criminal activities, especially sexual offence which seems to be spiraling out of control.

She indicated that in most sexual offence cases, perpetrators are people who are either known or related to the victims, so children are being equipped on measures to take should they fall victims and to never keep quiet despite death threats being made against them.
