Berea, April,30 – In celebration of May as Africa Month, Africa Women’s Agenda (AWA) will on Saturday commemorate the occasion with inmates at Teyateyaneng Correctional Institute.
Founder of AWA, Princess Senate Masupha, said the initiative is aimed at motivating inmates and offering words of encouragement, reminding them that they remain part of the community despite their circumstances.
She noted that although inmates may feel isolated within correctional facilities, visits and participation in significant events form part of the rehabilitation process and reinforce the importance of humanity.
Princess Masupha added that the visit will also coincide with Mother’s Day celebrations, highlighting that inmates are in need of care, love and emotional support. She said AWA will share a meal with more than 200 inmates during the event.
She emphasized that inmates are often overlooked during major celebrations, hence the organisation found it important to include them, as they are part of the African community…
