PARENTS NEED TO TAKE EDUCATION SERIOUSLY – MAJAKE

Thaba Tseka Aug 04 – Thaba Tseka high school Principal says if the parents do not take their children’s education to heart, the learners will also take it for granted.

This Mrs. Mapotsane Mohale-Majake stated in an interview with the Agency on Friday where she said during the first and second days after the school opening the number of learners that showed up was not satisfactory.

She said attendance became better on Thursday even though some have not shown up even today and the expectation is that they will join their classmates on Monday.

Mrs. Majake  said that puts more pressure on Teachers who will have to ensure that the latecomers are at par with those that came to school when school reopened.

Asked whether failure to pay the third quarter fee could be the reason for their absence, she said that cannot count as the reason as about 80 percent of their learners have not paid the third quarter but have still shown up at school.

The Principal added parents play a  role by failing to provide for their children’s needs as that promotes absenteeism.

She said if parents show commitment and provide their children with all their needs, then the children will  take their education seriously.

Thaba Tseka High School fee is M2000.00 annually.
