Maseru, Dec. 22 – A Member of Parliament for Thetsane Constituency Ms. Nthati Moorosi celebrated Christmas with voters at an event held in Maseru on Sunday.
The Parliamentarian who is also Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation donated clothes to needy children, wheelchairs and crutches to disabled people as well as food packages to over 100 people most of whom are the aged. Food packages included maize meal, rice, sugar and cooking oil to mention but a few.
In her address, Ms. Moorosi emphasised the importance of Christmas in bringing families together, to celebrate and share love amongst each other.
She said her intentions are to empower all, particularly the most vulnerable. She stated those aged between 60 and 69 are vulnerable as their grandchildren are under their care though they do not get old age pension hence the packages today.
“l am not giving because I have money but God is using me to help the needy and above all we came together to network and celebrate ahead of Christmas day”.
Talking about her achievements in the Constituency, she said together with Thetsane women, they have established Thetsane Business Hub, where women design and make bags, an initiative to be launched in the due course.
She wished all a merry Christmas, urging youth who are on drugs to make a personal choice and decision to do away with drugs.
In the same note, on behalf of Parliamentarians, Dr. Rets’elisitsoe Matlanyane mentioned she is here to give support to her colleague who is aware that drought has affected agricultural production, thus people are in dire need of food.
“By extending a helping hand to those in need is a testament Ms. Moorosi fears God and could not stand watching people suffer”. She said.
On behalf of Community Councillor, Mr. Sehaole Mpopo also thanked the Parliamentarian for the gesture, indicating that this will go a long way in meeting the society half way.
The Area Chief, Chief Moletsane Moletsane thanked Ms. Moorosi for having thought of them this Christmas. “The aged are pleased to have a Leader such as this one who prioritises the needs of voters, particularly the most vulnerable such as the aged”. He stressed.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Mots’elisi Moremoholo thanked God for having used Ms. Moorosi to give and support those in need.
This event saw Revolution For Prosperity (RFP) singers entertaining the crowd with their music as well as youth clubs from different villages in the Constituency.
