Maseru, Aug. 31 — Prime Minister (PM), Ntsokoane Samuel Matekane will leave for China for the China Africa Summit which is being held after three years.
As stated by Prime Minister’s Attache, Mr. Thapelo Mabote this summit was held in the years 2006, 2008, 2015 and 2018 where one was held in South Africa.
“The President of China invited the heads of states and government from the African continent to discuss and share ideas on how they have been working on the projects they have agreed to work on,” he mentioned.
He indicated that this summit will talk about industrialization, agricultural modernization, issues of world peace and how they can be approached, state governance also will be part of the discussions.
“Most importantly, they will talk about how to change the daily living conditions for the sake of peace,” he indicated.
Mr. Mabote stated that there are notable improvements achieved by China, such as Mpiti to Sehlaba-Thebe road, Maseru District Hospital and other projects that were deliberated at this summit,” he stated.
He declared that the PM’s intentions are based on how agriculture can be improved based on climate change and renewable energy, adding that they are some of the things that can help Lesotho.
“The summit will be on September 4 to September 6,” said Mr. Mabote.
He stressed that the summit also includes independent entrepreneurs from Lesotho under the guidance of Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC) to ensure that they work together with the government.
“This independent entrepreneurs will work together with the government in creating jobs, improving the country’s economy and to overcome hunger and poverty,” he stressed.
In closing he mentioned that the PM will leave on August 31 and will be back on September 9.
