Mafeteng, August 31 — The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition is to develop Lesotho Agricultural College as efforts to strengthen skills on agriculture for the country to ensure and retain its self reliance in food production.
The remarks were made by the Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition during Food Month in commemoration of 200 years of Lesotho existence during a campaign held in the district on Friday, where he said the country for the past years was able to provide the nation with food through engaging in massive production.
He highlighted that the ministry has provided farmers with training on smart climate agriculture, saying it is the responsibility of the ministry to guide farmers as they have shown their outstanding potential production of crops.
The Minister stated that provision of agriculture inputs within the highlands district has begun to prepare for summer cropping, pledging that his ministry is working tirelessly to collect data of fields to ensure enough inputs.
