Mohale’s Hoek, Jan.13-In preparation for the up-coming 2026 Population and Housing Census, the District Publicity Committee has convened a meeting aimed at analysing its roles, under supervision of the Department of Bureau of Statistics, (BOS)
The District Statistician Mrs. ‘Mathapelo Ranneileng stated that among other roles of the committee, is to plan census publicity or advocacy at the district level, while organizing and guiding census implementation.
Mrs. Ranneileng further indicated that the committee is also tasked with ensuring that adequate documents are received and stored safely, as well as ensuring that all arrangements are in place, and closely monitor census activities at the district level.
On the other hand, the District Administrator Ms. Moleboheng Lebele, emphasized the significance of engaging other stakeholders such as the Christian Council of Lesotho (CCL), to make it easier for the committee to be welcomed with open arms in various churches.
The committee comprises nine members from various Ministries with DA as the chairperson, and it is expected to attend its first capacitation training on Wednesday.
The 2026 Population and Housing Census is expected to be conducted from April, 12 as per the Statistics Act of 2001.
