QACHA’S NEK COURT DENIES BAIL TO CHILD EXPLOITATION ACCUSED

Qacha’s Nek, Jan. 17 — Senior Magistrate Ts’eliso Bale of the Qacha’s Nek Magistrate Court has denied bail to Ndlandla Mohlekoa (24) of Sehonghong, Thaba-Tseka, in a case involving the alleged exploitation of a minor.

Mohlekoa, charged under Section 67 (1) (a) of the Children’s Protection and Welfare Act No. 7 of 2011, is accused of unlawfully transporting a 15-year-old girl to an unauthorized border point (Paqama), Qacha’s Nek, on January 13, 2025.

He allegedly coerced the girl into labouring under the false claim that she was his lawful wife through customary rites.

The court ruled that Mohlekoa would remain in custody to ensure a swift trial scheduled to begin on January 22, 2025. . .
