QACHA’S NEK HOSTS HISTORIC PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT ON LOCAL ISSUES

Qacha’s Nek, Nov. 08 — The community of Melele has praised a first-of-its-kind public meeting organized by District Administrator (DA) Mr. Habofanoe Pheku, where the district’s Heads of Departments (HODs) engaged directly with residents to discuss urgent issues.

The event aimed to update the public on government ministries’ efforts and address rising concerns, including the ongoing water crisis worsened by drought and frequent power outages.

A recent tragic incident, where a teenage mother’s death was misreported online, added further urgency to the gathering.

Residents shared that the meeting was long overdue, with many voicing a need for more such events to stay informed on district issues.

“It’s frustrating to be uninformed about issues that affect us,” said Mr. Ts’epang Busa, a local resident. “I’d love to attend more before the holidays.” . . .
