Qacha’s Nek, July 20 — Qacha’s Nek LMPS FC was crowned champions of the King’s Birthday Tournament on Sunday evening, walking away with a brand new jersey and M3,000 in prize money after a nail biting final match at Melele ground.
The two-day tournament, hosted by Splendid Lifestyle and Lekhetho Transport from July 19 to 20, brought together eight teams and a lively crowd to celebrate football, unity and His Majesty’s birthday.
Initially planned as a one-day, four-team event, overwhelming interest saw the tournament double in size.
In the final match, LMPS FC went head-to-head with Sterling Young Stars FC from Tebellong. The teams were neck and neck until the 90th minute, when Sterling equalized, sending the match into penalties. LMPS scored all their penalties, while Sterling missed one, sealing LMPS’s victory.
