Quthing, Sept. 08 — The World Food Programme (WF) has allocated M16 million to the Quthing District Disaster Management Team (DDMT) for implementation of the district anticipatory action plan (AA) during the course of this year.
Speaking at the DDMT meeting held at Upper Moyeni, the world Food Programme (WFP) Specialist, Mr. Pholo Mafamo said the AA takes place prior to an extreme weather event on forecast trigger, in order to mitigate the anticipated impact on food security, lives and livelihoods.
He stated that the money will be used in various activities by DDMT members to lessen the anticipated impact of drought, adding that the activities will start after Lesotho Meteorological Services (LMS) release of the three-month weather forecast for October, November and December.
