SADC SUMMIT CONDEMNS ATTACKS ON SAMIDRC

Maseru, FEB.01—Southern African Development Community (SADC) Heads of state and government have strongly condemned the attacks on the SADC Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (SAMIDRC) troops by the M23 operating in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as such actions violated the ceasefire that was brokered through the Luanda Process on July 30, 2024 and undermine peace and security of the DRC and the SADC region.

This surfaced during the Extraordinary Summit held in Harare Zimbabwe on Friday  to deliberate on the security situation in the DRC. Lesotho’s Prime Minister Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane was also among the Heads of state and government who attended the summit chaired by Dr. Emmerson Mnangagwa, President of Zimbabwe in his capacity as Chairperson of SADC…
