SEMONKONG HEALTH CENTRE TO BE REHABILITATED

Maseru, May 22 — The Ministry of health will expand and rehabilitate Semonkong health centre as soon as possible to ensure effective provision of health services to the people.

This was said by the Minister of Education and Training on behalf of that of Health, Prof. Ntoi Rapapa in the National Assembly on Thursday when responding to Maletsunyane Member of Parliament Mr. Peiso Kelane question, regarding expansion of Semonkong facilities including a consultation room , maternity room and covered waiting room to protect patients from the elements.

Prof. Rapapa said the Ministry is aware of the conditions of Semonkong health centre and will ensure the centre is rehabilitated before or in 2026/27 financial year.

However, Mr. Kelane warned the Minister that the building of the health centre belongs to an individual who sacrificed his house to ensure services are brought to the people.

Meanwhile the government of Lesotho was earlier financially supported by the United States government to ensure rehabilitation and construction of some health centres to promote access to health services.
