SENATE ADJOURNS SINE DIE

Maseru, Aug. 29– The House of the Senate has today adjourned Sine Die following two court notices challenging the special sitting of the Parliament as well as the appeal case challenging the business of the House.

Addressing Senators, President of the Senate Mrs. Mamonaheng Mokotimi told them that the Speaker of the National Assembly received the judgement about the ruling of the case in which Yearn for Economic Sustainability (YES), Mr. Kananelo Raboloetse and Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Lesotho had lodged a complaint before the court but lost.

They were challenging the reinstatement of the bills that had lapsed with the dissolution of 10th  Parliament as well as the Standing Order 105B which they claimed to be inconsistent with section 78 of the Constitution.

With this said, Mrs. Monaheng suggested that the house be adjourned Sine Die while they allow the two cases to finish.
