SENATE PRESIDENT ATTENDS INTER-PARLIAMENTARY UNION

Maseru, Nov. 25 — The President of the Senate Mrs. Mamonaheng Mokitimi together with her delegates attended the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) which was aimed at strengthening democracy through parliament, promoting human rights and to advance gender equality, the IPU was hosted in Luanda, Angola.

In her speech, Mrs. Mokitimi acknowledged the invitation highlighting that at the moment, Lesotho has embarked on Constitutional Reforms which were aimed at stabilising the country politically, and that a new government had assumed office in the past 11 months.

She also enlightened that the economic landscape of Lesotho and sectors driving the economy of Lesotho are working tirelessly, stressing the need for enhanced cooperation between the two countries, Lesotho and Angola.

Mrs. Mokitimi indicated present training of both members of the parliament and staff as another avenue of enhancing ties between the two countries while also serving the purpose of information sharing and skills transfer.
