Maseru, Nov. 23 — The National Assembly Speaker, Mr. Tlohang Sekhamane says, it is the role of Parliamentarians to raise awareness and educate the society about the work of the House.
The Speaker shared these sentiments this weekend following the presentation and outcome of the Afrobarometer survey stating Basotho’s views towards the House and its members, where many hold opinions that the House is non-functional.
Mr. Sekhamane stated that it is high time today’s Parliamentarians find the need to educate the society about the House and its functions as it appears that many still do not understand the role of the House.
“We as Parliamentarians should take the blame of not doing our work by educating the society, my appeal is that we should take the Parliament to the People,” he stressed.
