Maseru, July 16 — The government has created 3,575 jobs in two weeks, since it advised itself to brief the nation biweekly on issues discussed by Cabinet.
This was revealed by the Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation Ms Nthati Moorosi when unpacking Cabinet decisions at Lesotho National Broadcasting Services on Wednesday.
Ms Moorosi indicated that of the above mentioned jobs, 2, 079 were from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, 1000 from that of Trade through factories, 96 from the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and 400 from the Prime Minister’s Office through the Apprentice program.
She also said the Cabinet has agreed to put aside two percent of recurrent budget from every Ministry with the objective to strengthen the youth employment fund.
In another issue, she disclosed that the Cabinet has ordered the Ministry of Law and Justice to draft the Lesotho Correctional Service Bill in a bid to strengthen service within correctional institutions.
The Cabinet has advised itself to enlighten the nation about issues it discussed biweekly on Wednesday.
