UNEMPLOYMENT CONCERNS OVERSHADOW CENSUS AWARENESS

Berea – Employment concerns were among the issues raised during a census awareness meeting held at Tebe-tebe Community Council, where the Bureau of Statistics (BOS) Publicity Committee met with local councillors.

Councillors inquired about potential census-related job opportunities and asked for clear information on the recruitment process, saying proper communication would help residents understand how and when to apply.

Responding on behalf of the BOS Publicity Committee, Mrs ‘Makatleho Malataliana said employment opportunities would be communicated once they are officially announced.

Mrs Malataliana explained that recruitment processes are handled through formal procedures and that announcements would be made through recognised communication channels to ensure equal access to information.

She encouraged councillors to continue sharing information about the importance of the population and housing census and the need for community members to participate when the time comes.

The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming Population and Housing Census and the role of councillors in informing their communities about the exercise.
