VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN, CHILDREN REMAINS UNDERREPORTED

Maseru, Nov. 03 — A total of one in 10 women making it to a 7.5 percent are reported to be experiencing pressured, coerced or physically forced sex in their childhood.

This is according to the Lesotho National Prevention and Response Plan on Violence on Children and youth report.

According to this report, amongst boys, 4.5 percent of them are reported to experiencing unwanted sexual touching in their childhood.

The reported also showed that amongst those that have experienced any childhood sexual violence, most of them reported the first incident taking place at the age of 16 to 17 while 13.1 percent of girls reported their first incident in the age of 13 or even younger.
