Berea, April 16 — In an effort to strengthen strategies for disaster preparedness and response, World Food Programme (WFP) has presented five drones to Disaster Management Authority (DMA) and certificates to 20 participants after completing a six-day training on how to operate them on Sunday at Teyateyaneng.
At the event the Minister in the Prime Minister’s office Mr. Limpho Tau said Lesotho deals with all sorts of disasters, reports on poverty, food shortages and crime incidences that need regular checking to enable effective reporting.
Mr. Tau highlighted that the kind of support it is going to solve a lot of their challenges as the drones are going to ease the field workers work.
He added that for the past agricultural seasons, Lesotho experienced heavy rains and most people were affected and as a result DMA office being responsible to manage and mitigate the disaster effects will be able to respond in time……
