YOUTH INTO AGRICULTURE

Maseru, Nov. 13 — As the government has prioritised agriculture in line with National Strategic Development Plan ll review extension, the youth are reported to be slowly and yet surely falling in love with agriculture.

This trend is believed to be a testament that the youth are no longer seeing agriculture as an adult thing but as a backbone for their living that has potential not only to create jobs but to ensure healthy eating as well.

Addressing a round table meeting in Maseru on Thursday for piggery farmers,  the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition (MAFSN), Ms.’Nyane Thabana of Marketing Department stated that unlike in the past when the youth saw agriculture as adult thing, they are slowly adapting and  falling in love with this sector.

She said this is confirmed by a number of them engaging in agriculture as well as some who have shown  up at today’s meeting.
