MCC ROAD REFURBISHMENT INITIATIVE WELCOMED BY MOTORISTS

Maseru, June 08 — Motorists have welcomed the temporary refurbishment of roads in Ha Ts’osane by the Maseru City Council (MCC), describing the initiative as a timely intervention aimed at improving road conditions and enhancing safety for road users.

In an interview with the Agency motorist Mr. Nthimo Ratsie applauded the council for responding to the long-standing concerns of residents and motorists who have endured deteriorating road conditions in the affected areas.

Mr. Ratsie said that the roads had become increasingly difficult to use due to potholes and surface damage, particularly during the rainy season when some sections became hazardous to motorists and pedestrians alike.

He noted that the refurbishment work will help improve traffic flow and reduce wear and tear on vehicles, which often results in costly repairs for motorists.

“The condition of these roads has been a challenge for quite some time. We are pleased to see the Maseru City Council taking action, even if it is a temporary measure. It shows that the concerns of road users are being heard,” he said.

Mr. Ratsie added that smoother roads will contribute to safer driving conditions and reduce the risk of accidents caused by motorists swerving to avoid potholes.

He further indicated that improved road infrastructure plays a vital role in supporting economic activities, as it facilitates the movement of people, goods and services within the city.

While welcoming the development, he appealed to authorities to consider long-term rehabilitation projects that would provide lasting solutions to recurring road deterioration.

Mr. Ratsie also urged road users to exercise patience and caution in areas where maintenance work is underway, saying cooperation from the public would enable the project to be completed efficiently.

The temporary refurbishment which is mentioned to be done also in Semphetenyane and Khubetsoana forms part of ongoing efforts by the Maseru City Council to improve urban infrastructure and address challenges affecting road networks in various parts of the capital city.
