MINISTRY ON CLIMATE SMART PLOTS DEMONSTRATION

Mafeteng, March 06 — The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition through the Department of Nutrition is currently engaged on establishment of Climate Smart Plots to increase production of vegetables while at the same time fighting diseases that might be caused as a result of shortage of food.

The exercise which started at St. Gerald Primary School this week is expected to be carried out within different Primary Schools in the district with the aim of promoting production of vegetables within the schools to ensure proper healthy feeding among pupils.

In an interview with the District Nutrition Officer Ms.Limpho Ramanyaka said the initiative is aimed at encouraging Primary School Teachers to teach pupils to produce at early stage so that they grow up knowing the importance of producing plants for family consumption while at the same time supplementing foods being provided by the government of Lesotho to Primary Schools.
