MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE EMBARKS ON NUTRITION TRAINING

Qacha’s Nek, Mar.4 — To promote food security and improve nutrition, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Nutrition (MAFSN), with support from the Smallholder Agriculture Development Project (SADP) II, is conducting a four-day training for Letlapeng Resource Centre Nutrition Club members at Thifa.

The training, which began on Monday and runs until Thursday, equips members with knowledge on proper nutrition, food handling, preparation, and preservation. “Proper nutrition boosts immunity, lowers the risk of heart disease and some cancers,” explained Mrs. Lebohang Monyamane-Nthake, MAFSN District Nutrition Officer.

Leqheku Letsoisa, SADP Project Field Officer, emphasized the importance of food preservation, stating, “Farmers produce large quantities of food, but many struggle to extend its shelf life. This training ensures they can enjoy their produce year-round.” SADP has also provided essential food preservation ingredients to support the initiative. . . .
