Mohale’s Hoek, March.23 — Following prolonged months of unavailability of water in the district, some of the villagers around town have finally accessed water from their private taps on Monday.
In an interview the Agency, Chieftainess of Moeaneng Mots’eoa Mofammere stated they have been fetching water from Letlapeng, a place the latter described to be far for someone her age, “I simply could not believe my eyes when I saw water coming from my tap, I had lost hope that we would ever have our basic need in the comfort of our homes”, she noted but expressed her gratitude to finally have access to clean portable water.
On the other hand ‘Mabokang Maieane a woman in her sixties from Mohlakeng who was pushing a wheel barrow carrying buckets of water, asserted that she has been drawing water from an unprotected water source, just so that she can cook for her children, noting even animals do drink from the source.

In an interview with an officer from the Water and Sewage Company (WASCO) Public Relations Office, Mr. Bahlakoana Lehasa, he pointed out that the company has managed to fix two of its water pumps destroyed by heavy rainfall, adding that the plan is to rehabilitate one borehole at Ntlafatso Skills Training Centre (NSTC) and begin discussions with the owner of the one in Lits’oeneng to utilize it as well.
Mr. Lehasa further indicated that after rehabilitating the one at NSTC, water will be pumped to the company’s Plant and be distributed straight to the villages nearer to town.
He also added that the idea of collecting water from Litlapeng as agreed during the previous meeting no longer seems possible as they have noticed a problem with the pipeline, and still have to identify as to what could be the course of the stagnation within the pipe line.
