Maseru, Nov. 05—Retired Superintendent Thabo Tsúkulu, one of the accused in a case in which four police officers are charged with the murder of Police Constable Mokalekale Khetheng, has denied that he had a conversation with one of the state witnesses, Senior Superintendent Letsosa, regarding the deceased and his fate.
In his evidence as one of the defence witnesses, he stated that it is not true that Senior Superintendent Letsosa, who was in March 2016, District Commissioner of Police in Leribe, was at the Hlotse Police Station on the day the deceased disappeared. He told the court that he was occupying the office of the witness as he was acting in his position as the witness was on leave from March 1-27, 2016.
He further denied that he told the witness that he had arrested the deceased and that he had appointed people to interview him (deceased). He said it is also not true that he promised to update the witness on the interview.
The accused had earlier testified that he directed that the deceased be looked for and be brought to the Hlotse Police Station so that he could talk to his superior, the Mokhotlong District Commissioner of Police, Senior Superintendent Makara who complained that he had been missing work. He stated that the deceased was not arrested when he was brought to the police station by other police officers. He added that he could not be found when he requested that he be brought to his office…
