Maseru, May.23—Auditor General (AG) Mrs. ‘Mathabo Makenete says she has determined management of public assets, contingent liabilities and infrastructure projects as the key audit matters.
This she said during her presentation of the 2021 / 2022 report for the year ended March 31 2022 in Maseru on Thursday.
She said there was a lack of security arrangements when distributing passports from the production centre to various destinations. In addition, due to a variety of reasons, multiple passports were mutilated during production, costing the Government M3.6 million.
She said several Government ministries fail to maintain asset registers, hence inadequacy of disclosures of Government-owned assets, including infrastructure, property, and equipment, remains a challenge. She added that most of the assets are also abandoned and dilapidated…
