Maseru, March 13 — The Auditor-General has released an Audit Report on the Lesotho’s Government’s Consolidated Financial Statement for the year ended March 31, 2023.
According to a press release from the office of the auditor general, the report provides independent assurance to parliament and the people of Lesotho that the financial statement has been prepared in line with the applicable law, regulation and the financial reporting standard.
It adds that by providing this report, the Auditor General aims to strengthen oversight and support informed decision making by parliament, government institutions, the media and the general public.
It indicates that this process plays an important role in safeguarding public resources and building trust in the country’s public financial management system.
Meanwhile, the report is developed in a simplified and summarised version to ensure that key findings, observations, and recommendations are easier to understand and accessible to members of the public.
The audit report is released every financial year.
